About Christmas In Action

Our History

Bobby Trimble, formed Christmas in April in 1973, with the intent of performing repair and rehabilitation work in their community every April in Midland, Texas. The organization was formed as a result of a lesson he was teaching to a group of young men in his Sunday School Class. He realized he had been led to a segment of our society which is, for the most part, overlooked. Local, state, and federal government programs are "out there" for low-income young couples and children, and yet, there are virtually no programs to help the elderly and disabled who are living on fixed incomes.

Think of it - trying to live on Social Security or disability anywhere from $500 - $800/month! Imagine paying for a roof, plumbing, wheelchair ramp, etc., while trying to pay for prescriptions and food on this kind of income. News of our good work spread slowly, but eventually achieved national recognition. The mission spread beyond the idea of providing service once a year in April to bringing together partners from all walks of life to help our neighbors.

Since Bobby began Christmas in Action, many more have organized around the USA. Click here to see the map!

Our Community

Christmas in Action Greater Cleburne organized in 1999, with our first Work Day taking place in 2000. Each year we perform most of our projects during the Community Work Day, usually the first weekend of April. Applications are accepted September 1 - November 30 for the following April. We also accept emergency applications throughout the year for emergency repairs such as gas leaks, electrical hazards, wheelchair ramps, or other conditions that make the home unsafe for occupants.

Our mission is to put Christian values "in action", not just talk about them! To date, hundreds of homes in Johnson County, Texas have been repaired by Christmas In Action. Our goal each year is to repair 50+ homes. All charitable contributions come from individuals, churches, businesses, civic organizations, trusts, and foundations.
